Karva Chauth Pooja Vidhi
Not only married women’s but un married girls also doing karva chauth vrat for their fiancés or desired husbands. So, if you are doing this vrat for the first time and don’t know the process, here is the detail process of karva chauth.
You have to start the karva chauth preparation day before karva chauth. You need to buy pooja items like karwa, matthi and heena. On the day of karwa chauth, you have to prepare food for yourself and eat it before sunrise (Karwa chauth is considered between sun rise and sunset).
On the morning time, some women’s do mehdi on their hands, decorating pooja thali, and some social things. In afternoon time, women’s gather at some common place and An elderly lady or the pujarin narrates the legend of Karwa Chouth. Where they listen the karwa chauth story and prepare a mud pot (which is symbol of lord ganesha) a metal urn filled with water, flowers, idols of Ambika Gaur Mata, Goddess Parwati and some fruits, mathi and food grains. A part of this is offered to the deities and the storyteller.
Earlier, the idol of gaur mata was prepared using mitti (earth) and cowdung. But now just idol of goddes parwati is kept. while listening to karwa story, they lights an earthen lamp in their pooja thali. Sindoor, incense sticks and rice are also kept in the thali.
At this doing this pooja, women’s wear heavy saree’s or red chunries (or any bridal colors) and adorn them self with nose pin, tika, bindi, chonp, bangles, earrings etc. And at the evening, when moon rises, first they see the moon’s reflection in their thali (steel dish) of water or you can use dupatta or sieve to see moon’s reflection. Then they offer water to moon and seek blessings of god moon. Women’s pray for safety, prosperity and long life for their husbands and then husbands offer water to their bride and breaks day long fast and give some food to eat.
